Tree Removal Permit

A planning permit is generally required for the pruning or removal of trees within the City of Knox.

Trees and plants on land with prior development have safeguarding provisions in place based on the approved plans from that period. For instance, this extends to scenarios like dual occupancy or multi-unit development, encompassing landscape plans as well.

In such instances, it is essential to obtain written approval from the Council.

To register for a planning permit you will need to create or log into an account.

No Permit Required Under These Circumstances:

  • If tree “presents an immediate risk of personal injury or damage to property. Only that part of the vegetation that presents the immediate risk may be removed, destroyed or lopped under this exemption.”
  • If no planning overlay, then no permit required for tree removal.
